Just under £2m will be spent on improving council housing stock across Richmondshire over the course of the next 12 months, after the District Council’s Improvements Team have completed their 2021-22 improvement programme.
Planning for the council’s 2022-23 calendar of works started last Autumn.
Work has already begun on site with the local authority’s principal contractor.
The work will include the replacing of 15 electric storage heating systems with new, efficient electric systems, as well as the upgrading of 62 heating systems which currently rely on gas or oil to be powered.
Across the council’s properties, Richmondshire District Council will replace 52 kitchens and 27 bathrooms, funded by the newly allocated £1.7m budget.
The local authority’s sheltered housing sites are also set to receive further investment, including:
- Installing a new passenger lift at Noels Court
- Upgrading smoke alarms at six schemes
- Installing a new commercial boiler at Quaker Close
- Installing a new automatic door at Queens Court
- Installing a new communal TV aerial at Oak Tree Court
- Undertaking communal corridor works at Thornborough Hall Gardens
Any council tenants impacted by the programme will be contacted in advance, with a visit to survey and plan the work and regular communication thereafter.
