Risk of flooding and severe weather across England
Nearly 60 areas in England and Wales have been warned of a risk of flooding, as the heavy rain continues.
The warnings are mainly for northern and central England, with some areas predicted to see a months worth of rainfall in one day, the Met Office has reported.
The Environment Agency has issued 58 flood warnings for the South West, Midlands, North East and North West of England. Additionally, 150 less serious alerts have been issued.
The Met Office has issued amber severe weather warnings in: central Scotland; Tayside and Fife; East Midlands; Grampian; north-east England; north-west England; Lothian and Borders; Wales; West Midlands; and Yorkshire and Humber.
The downpour has led to homes being evacuated in Northumberland, major roads closed across the country, two schools closed in Shrewsbury, trains cancelled and one woman who died when she was hit by a falling tree branch.
