Liverpool City Region appoints Interim Director to drive housing and regeneration

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has appointed Paul Buntin as its new Interim Director of Housing and Regeneration, placing an experienced internal leader at the helm of some of the region's most significant growth and housing programmes.

Paul Buntin steps into the role after serving as Head of Development and brings more than a decade of experience within the Combined Authority family. His journey began in 2014 when he joined Merseytravel as a Development Officer, before progressing through a series of senior positions focused on investment, transport development and strategic programme delivery.

During his career with the organisation, Paul has built a reputation for successfully managing major investment portfolios and leading complex spending review negotiations. He also played a key role in securing funding through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements programme, helping to unlock significant investment for the Liverpool City Region.

As Interim Director of Housing and Regeneration, Paul will lead the planning and delivery of an ambitious pipeline of housing and regeneration schemes designed to support economic growth, increase housing supply and improve communities across the city region.

His responsibilities will include oversight of the Housing Investment Fund, retrofit programmes aimed at improving energy efficiency, and initiatives to bring brownfield sites back into productive use for new homes and business growth.

Working alongside local authorities, housing providers and private sector partners, Paul will also play a central role in shaping housing policy, attracting investment and accelerating the delivery of high-quality developments for residents and businesses.

Commenting on his new role, Paul said:

"I’m absolutely delighted to be appointed into this role and look forward to helping deliver the Local Growth Plan, with housing a critical component of a successful, thriving economy and making a difference to the people who live and work in the region."

He has already made a significant contribution to the organisation and I am delighted that he will be leading our Housing and Regeneration team over the coming year.

"Housing and regeneration are central to our ambitions for economic growth and opportunity across the Liverpool City Region, and Paul is well placed to drive forward these important programmes and partnerships."

The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the Liverpool City Region as leaders seek to increase housing delivery, regenerate key sites and support long-term economic growth through targeted investment and partnership working.
