Welsh Government boost for public services
Public services in Wales will be supported to transform through the Invest-to-Save Fund, which has a £22m budget for 2014-15.
The fund, launched in 2009, supports the introduction of new and proven ways of working to increase efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability.
Speaking at the Finance Leadership Network National Conference in Cardiff Jane Hutt will say: “The Welsh Government is committed to improving public services for people across Wales.
“Since 2010, the UK Government has cut the Welsh budget by an unprecedented £1.7bn. Making the maximum use of available resources has never been so great for those delivering public services in Wales. It is essential that the most cost-effective approaches to delivery are adopted and that in considering these, greater focus is given to possible prevention measures rather than mitigation.
“Our unique approach – particularly through Invest-to-Save investment, provides public bodies with the support they need to help do just this – by providing the funding necessary to allow them to take forward their improvement projects for the benefit of the public.
“I hope all those who are considering bidding for money will learn from previous projects in order to achieve the best possible efficiencies while delivering the high standard of public services everyone expects.”
