The West Midlands has launched a pioneering £19 billion investment platform, Site Selection WM, in a bold move to position the region at the forefront of UK regeneration and global investment.
Unveiled by Mayor Richard Parker, the platform is the first of its kind in the UK, offering a digitally mapped portfolio of over 64 high-potential development and occupier sites. It provides real-time data on planning status, land use, investment type, and industry focus, alongside local market intelligence such as demographics, innovation assets, and transport connectivity—including HS2 and Metro links.
Commissioned by the West Midlands Growth Company in partnership with local authorities and the West Midlands Combined Authority, Site Selection WM is designed to attract both national and international developers by showcasing the region’s most transformative regeneration opportunities.
Key Regeneration Projects Featured:
- Smithfield Birmingham – A £1.9bn redevelopment of 17 hectares in the heart of the city.
- Arden Cross – A £3.2bn masterplan centred around the UK’s first HS2 Interchange Station outside London.
- West Bromwich Town Centre – A multi-phase regeneration backed by the UK’s largest Towns Deal funding allocation.
The platform also highlights the West Midlands Investment Zone (WMIZ), which combines capital investment, tax incentives, and business support to accelerate innovation-led growth. Key WMIZ anchors include:
- Coventry-Warwick Gigapark – Focused on electric vehicles and battery manufacturing.
- Birmingham Knowledge Quarter – A hub for digital tech and med-tech innovation.
- Wolverhampton Green Innovation Corridor – Driving growth in green industries.
Mayor of the West Midlands Richard Parker said:
“Showcasing over 1,000 acres of regeneration opportunities, Site Selection WM effectively captures the enormous scale of West Midlands ambition. By offering a more innovative and transparent way to explore a range development sites, it marks a step-change in how the region engages the global investor community.
“From town-centre revitalisation projects; to forward-thinking, affordable housing-led schemes – bringing forward the right infrastructure is critical to my mission of fostering growth for everyone.
“I look forward to speaking to new potential partners with a shared commitment to our region’s future.”

With the upcoming West Midlands Local Growth Plan and Spatial Development Strategy set to reinforce place-based growth, Site Selection WM is expected to play a central role in shaping the region’s economic future.
