New Opportunity for Climate Emergency Teams
Tackling the challenge of meeting net zero goals is engaging Councils in new thinking about delivering services, energising new technologies from new suppliers. Innovation Friendly Procurement can be the catalyst that releases innovation into practical outcomes. But deploying solutions successfully requires innovation friendly strategies to be embedded throughout the procurement process.
Connected Places Catapult, part of the Innovate UK family, have the resources, insights, and experience to help local government teams plan and implement innovative projects. They are offering to partner with in-house teams in developing ambitious “zero-carbon” projects that would break new ground and require engagement with innovative suppliers. They are especially interested in missions that would decarbonise local or regional transport; social housing; or other fixed assets.
The three projects selected for this pilot programme will receive specialist hands-on support from the Catapult and its network of experts in the planning of an innovation friendly procurement. They will help in-house teams define and scope requirements, identify applicable technologies and set up market engagement to bring forward potential suppliers. They will contribute their global experience to building an appropriate procurement strategy and support the evaluation of proposed solutions. The Catapult’s academic partners will be part of the support team and the pilot learnings will be shared through a planned Procurement Empowerment Centre.
The deadline to get ideas on the short list is Friday 30 September 2022.
More information and an application form can be found on the Catapult web site.
