Phase 3c of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) has been announced by Salix Finance, with attendees of a Public Sector Executive event being among the first to learn the news.
Yesterday we were delighted to welcome Paul Smyth, Salix Finance’s Director of Strategy and Technical Services, to our Public Sector Net Zero event during which it was announced that information is now available for organisations to begin gathering information.
The PSDS was first launched by Salix on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero in 2021, with funding being worth £1.425 billion. Funding is allocated through the form of grants that allow organisations in the public sector to fund measures that will help them achieve decarbonisation and net zero ambitions.
This particular iteration of the fund will make up to £230 million available throughout 2024/25, with the application portal expected to open in the autumn.
Smyth told the attendees of Public Sector Executive’s event:
“At two o’clock today, we were able to announce the next phase of the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
“In announcing this scheme, this is the third of three phases for phase three, and all of the application forms, all the guidance, a whole host of webinars are now live and posted on our website. So there’s a great level of information that potential applicants can go and look at, and start to really build an understanding on what they need to be doing in terms of putting together an application.
“We’ve announced it earlier, we’ve announced it before the schools break up, that’ll allow the schools and the local authority some time to make provision and start to do some planning.
“What’s quite important is that the application window will not be opened until the autumn… you’ve got many weeks to start to understand the criteria.”
