Government advertises £100,000 a year digital director position
The Civil Service is advertising a £100,000 a year programme director post for a new scheme to introduce cross-platforms for digital services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the Government as a Platform programme, from the Government Digital Service (GDS), with a £15m annual budget.
However, the director will have to avoid the mistakes and shortcomings of previous government digitalisation projects. Existing government efforts to digitalise the criminal justice system were criticised today for failing to fully implement their goals, and another digitalisation scheme covering Common Agricultural Policy payments failed to be successfully implemented because of the inability of different agencies to work together.
The advert says a cross-department approach to digitisation “will enable needed digital transformation to happen faster than with a siloed approach, and at lower cost to the taxpayer”.
The programme director position is open to applications until 25 April. To find out more, click here.
The GDS is also advertising a number of other jobs, including developers, technical analysts and product managers. To view the full list, click here.
