We built this city

The new report from the Centre for Cities has demonstrated the true value of investment in skills and training for citizens.

The consequences of a highly skilled workforce extends far beyond the immediate future that most politicians keep their focus on: it can affect the economic progress of a city for the next hundred years.

Perhaps this will serve to remind policymakers of the weight of the consequences of their actions and ensure the right decisions are made in terms of investment into the workforce.

Cities can only be as effective as the people who live and work there, and so they should be a key focus for development. Shiny new equipment or excellent strategy would be nothing without the right people to use and guide them.
