‘Collaborate’ launched for cross-sector development
A new organisation has been launched today to promote work and communication between the public, private and third sectors.
Collaborate has been established as a community interest company based at London South Bank University.
It will research and analyse conditions for collaboration and offer a cross-sector “neutral space” to develop practical solutions to today’s challenges. The Public Management and Policy Association (PMPA) is also transferring from Cipfa to Collaborate.
Collaborate will run a series of lectures and seminars aimed at creating a better understanding of how the different sectors can work together and how the private and third sector can take on a larger role in public service delivery.
Director John Tizard wrote in the Guardian: “Collaboration should bring benefits for all those involved with clear objectives based on better outcomes. Staff and users of services should be involved in designing and delivering collaborative arrangements and should themselves be beneficiaries. But we need to learn from past experience while we develop new models and approaches.”
Initial funding has been provided by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Serco, London South Bank University, the National Housing Federation and Anthony Collins Solicitors.
