Council braces for loss of up to 370 jobs
Up to 370 jobs are set to go at Aberdeen City Council, the authority’s leaders have announced today.
Around 230 full-time jobs will be cut and 140 vacant positions removed in a bid to save £10m in 2018-19.
The council hopes the cuts to the full-time jobs will be made through voluntary redundancies.
Angela Scott, chief executive of Aberdeen City Council, said: “We are committed to managing the reduction in posts in as sensitive and understanding a way as we can.
“As opportunities for change are identified, primarily as a result of teams coming together in the functional structure and highlighting duplication, employees will be involved through both engagement and consultation.”
The council is looking to slash £125m from its budget over the next five years.
