Carer's allowance and pension not the same
Source: Catherine
Absolutely not! The pension is an entitlement for your old age for yourself, earned after years of hard work and paying national insurance and tax. The Carer's allowance, pitiful as it is, is to cover for the job you are doing caring for someone else in your retirement, something you shouldn’t have to do at that age, however it is also saving the NHS or others from doing it which would cost a whole lot more. It also compensates for the time spent caring as opposed to being able to enjoy your retirement and have chance to use that long awaited free bus pass!
