Jeremy Hunt to announce Excellence in Health Creation Awards winners

Now in its second year, the New NHS Alliance (NNHSA) 2017 Excellence in Health Creation Awards is still open for entries. The awards celebrate the work of individuals and organisations that are leading the way in delivering health creating practices.

The winners will be announced by heath secretary Jeremy Hunt, at the New NHS Alliance (NNHSA) 2017 Action Summit being held in London at the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) on 6 December 2017.

The winners will also get an ITV Productions TV-quality film made of their work, while all runners-up will get a complementary ticket to the Action Summit.

Health Creation can be summarised as the process by which communities and professionals work together in equal partnership and make lasting improvements in population health, quality of life and productivity.

Commenting on the importance of the awards, Merron Simpson, chief executive, NNHSA, said: “Our two award categories – Trojan Mice and Getting our 5-a-Day – are designed to help people get to the essence of what it is that makes us well.

"Anyone can be part of creating health whether you're employed by the NHS, a volunteer working within their community or working in the public sector; New NHS Alliance wants to celebrate and showcase those who are getting on and doing it."

Charles Alessi, senior advisor, Public Health England, added: “This Summit is hugely important in the journey the health sector needs to take – from a service to a system, from treating illness to creating health, from the biomedical to the biopsychosocial.

"Whether you are in public health, primary care, part of a community or acute trust, local authority or housing, if you want to be part of the solution you need to be there."

Trojan Mice recognises and celebrates the introduction of a small change in practice that leads to a large and lasting positive change in the life of a person or a community.

Getting Our 5-a-day recognises and celebrates the work of those who have adapted, adopted or introduced practices that help enable Health Creation.

Entering is very easy and the deadline for entries is 17:00 on Friday 30 November. Download your entry pack here.
