EvoNorth 2019: Connecting the passions, people, and places of the North

The celebration of EvoNorth 2019, the first ever event of its name, lived up to lofty expectations in amplifying and highlighting the biggest and brightest of past, present, and future exciting developments the region has to offer, bringing together key decision-makers from a vast array of backgrounds and professions – all joining forces to drive forward the demands and aspirations of the Northern Powerhouse.

The variety and brevity of knowledge from both speakers and attendees visiting the two-day event at The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club, Old Trafford, showcased not just the talent the North has to offer, but also the willingness to discuss, debate, and collaborate on key issues that inspire the people of the North in pursuing change for the better.

Integral industries including Health, Transport, Business & Innovation, Energy, and Education were just a flavour of the ebullient and thought-provoking discussions on show over the two days; and the knowledge and reputation of the headline speakers – including Northern Powerhouse Partnership director Henri Murison, deputy leader of Sunderland City Council Michael Mordey, NHS Transformation Unit CEO Alex Heritage, Network Rail’s north of England director Anna-Jane Hunter, and the Thornton Energy Research Institute’s Joe Howe – demonstrated the limitless potential these key industries have in becoming world-leaders in their field.

The event would not have been able to reach its highest heights without our strategic sponsors: Dell EMC, whose very own board member Richard Rawcliffe delivered an illuminating speech into the boundless potential of digital transformation; and Virgin Media Business, who, exemplified in its Media Business Hub, was passionate and determined to develop new relationships with businesses and developers in the Northern Powerhouse. We would also like to thank Public Sector PLC and Uber, who inspired hearts and minds with their inspiring thought leader masterclasses on working in public sector properties and the evolving demands of passengers in cities respectively.

EvoNorth’s positive spirit was encapsulated by the devotion to the region by The People’s Powerhouse. Led by chair Edna Robinson, The People’s Powerhouse panel typified what EvoNorth was really all about: the people. On PSE, you can read deeper into what some of the loudest voices in the Energy, Education, and Business & Investment sectors in the North had to say at the event – as well as giving your view on how we can develop the Northern Powerhouse via our Twitter @EvoNorth.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts and will see you at EvoNorth 2020!
