Avoira to help manage the return to work and life with temperature detection solutions

Technology solutions specialist Avoira has launched a range of smart temperature detection camera packages to help public sector organisations, combat the spread of Covid 19.

The artificial intelligence (AI) powered solutions take just one second to detect a person’s skin-surface temperature and can scan not just individuals but groups.

They automatically alert operators when detecting someone with a high temperature, allowing immediate activation of corporate Covid 19 protocols.

The systems are likely to prove of particular use in offices, factories, healthcare facilities, educational establishments and transport hubs.

“Temperature detection will play a crucial role as the nation looks towards exiting lockdown and getting back to business,” commented Avoira’s managing director, Dr. Andrew Roberts.

“These cameras can be swiftly installed to help support employers’ wider Covid 19 protection protocols at a time when people are being actively encouraged to return to work.”

He adds that they can also be installed at relatively low cost, with leasing options starting from just £20 weekly. This means they help a wide variety of businesses in managing the impact of the virus.

“They enable non-contact, individual and high-level fever screening which is fast and accurate, reducing the need for riskier and cumbersome manual temperature measurement.”

“Whilst clearly not able to diagnose Covid 19 itself, they can provide a highly effective triage service to trigger further diagnostic and containment procedures.”

His comments echo those made recently by former health secretary Jeremy Hunt who called for “Temperature checks, not just at airports, but before you go into an office block or a restaurant.”

Avoira is offering a range of fixed, turret and hand-held temperature detection camera systems, together with a walk-through solution of the kind championed by Mr. Hunt.

These can be complemented by Black Body Temperature calibration units which increase the accuracy of temperature measurement from +/- 0.5C° to +/- 0.3C°.

Walk-through scanners are ideal for monitoring individuals whilst the camera systems can be deployed for mass screening.

“Both individual and high-level screening will identify only those with high skin-surface temperatures, significantly narrowing the need for clinical testing to determine core body temperatures and diagnose associated conditions such as Covid 19,” explains Dr Roberts.

Avoira engineers will advise on and can install the most appropriate solution for each site.
