Digital archives announced for Chatham House

Chatham House, the renowned international affairs think tank, has announced plans to digitise its archives.

The first phase of the Chatham House Online Archive will be complete by spring 2013, offering a searchable research database spanning 90 years for government, NGOs, corporations, researchers and students.

The archives will comprise approximately half a million pages of research, analysis and commentary, as well as transcripts and audio recordings of meetings. The work is being done in partnership with Gale, part of Cengage Learning.

Keith Burnet, director of communications and online publishing at Chatham House, said the plans would “bring our archive to new online and global audiences”.

He added: “This agreement will give researchers and those with an interest in international affairs a unique insight into world affairs in the 20th century.”
