West Lothian Council appoints new head of housing

West Lothian Council have appointed Ann Marie Carr to serve as their new head of housing, customer and building services.

Ms Carr has been serving in the role on an interim basis since December 2018, but is now set to take over the position permanently.

As part of the job role, she will have responsibility for management and delivery of the council’s housing service, building service and front line customer service.

Having start with Falkirk District Council in 1982 in internal audit, Ms Carr has gone on to have a long career in local government. Following the position in internal audit, she moved into housing for the Falkirk council. In 1989, she moved to West Lothian District Council, which later became West Lothian Council.

Gaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Housing from Stirling University in 1994, Ms Carr has spent the last 37 years working in the housing sector and acquired extensive experience across the board, rom her days working as a front line housing officer right through to her most recent post of senior manager for housing need.

Chief executive of West Lothian Council, Graham Hope, said of the appointment: “[Ms Carr] has tremendous experience within the housing sector giving her a great understanding of the social housing landscape, and her leadership will be a real asset to West Lothian Council.

“The Head of Housing, Customer and Building Services is a key role within West Lothian covering many of the essential services that are crucial for the people of West Lothian.

“I have worked with Ann Marie for a number of years and I would like to congratulate her on her appointment.”
