Blog: 5 minutes with Dr Tracy Vell MBE, Associate Lead for Primary and Community Care, Greater Manchester, Health and Social Care Partnership.

Ahead of next month’s EvoNorth event we caught up with Dr Tracy Vell MBE, Associate Lead for Primary and Community Care, Greater Manchester, Health and Social Care PartnershipDr Tracy Vell MBE shares her thoughts on the Northern Powerhouse, what it means to her and why she thinks it’s important to attend EvoNorth.

What does your role as Associate Lead for Primary and Community Care, Greater Manchester, Health and Social Care Partnership involve?

It involves both a representative board structure to feed into strategy, and leading a strategic view on transformation involving primary care.

What are the key issues you are addressing, and how will this drive forward the devolution agenda?

We are addressing new innovation to make primary care sustainable and enjoyable. We are establishing a change in the health and care system moving towards prevention and population health rather than a reactive health service.

What does the Northern Powerhouse mean to you?

Having the opportunity to own our system and make local decisions for local people with local rewards.

Why have you got involved with EvoNorth?

It’s important for local clinicians to get involved, as most innovation is successful if involving the people who deliver on the ground are trusted. This is not a management exercise.

Why do you think it’s important for leaders across the region to come together to create a plan for future generations, especially at events like EvoNorth?

We have to join forces and work collaboratively to remove duplication of effort and unite behind simple shared ambitions for the system.

EvoNorth is FREE to attend for any qualifying civil servants. Deadline to register 25 Jan 19.

To qualify you must be either a C-level executive, senior manager, or director from a local authority, housing association, NHS trust, or LEP responsible for building, shaping, and delivering the Northern Powerhouse.
