A further £374m to be invested into infrastructure revolution
Five more Housing Infrastructure Fund projects were announced by Government on Friday (1 Nov) with a combined investment of more than £374m.
The Housing Secretary’s announcement is part of the government’s commitment to push the infrastructure revolution forward and unlock more homes in the UK.
The £374m will be invested into roads, schools, public transport and utilities, working to level up the areas that need it the most.
Housing secretary Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP said:
“This government is committed to building the homes this country needs, so that more people can realise the dream of owning their own home.”
“This £374 million funding will ensure that communities have the right infrastructure to enable new homes to be built, such as road and transport improvements.”
In order to maximise economic growth through housing, successful schemes have been approved in Swindon, Wiltshire, Cornwall, North Somerset and Medway.
The housing projects are expected to make up to 32,000 more homes available, bringing the total government investment in the Housing Infrastructure Fund to over £3bn.
Minister of State for Housing Rt Hon Esther McVey MP said:
“We are investing record amounts in roads, rail, housing and broadband to ensure Britain has the modern infrastructure needed to thrive, and to allow local economies to flourish.”
