LEP agrees £3.8m funding for Chesterfield Station Masterplan
Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire LEP (D2N2) gave the green light yesterday (May 20) for a £3.8m grant, to part fund the construction of the £7.42m Hollis Lane Link Road project in Chesterfield.
It forms a vital part of the Chesterfield Station Masterplan, a regeneration scheme boosting sustainable economic growth in the centre of Chesterfield.
The funding will come through D2N2’s Local Growth Fund allocation, dedicated to enhancing the regional economy with investment programmes.
In addition to a new commercial development, connectivity in the area will be significantly improved, and support similar awards for infrastructure projects in the region such as the A61 Corridor, the HS2-related development and Chesterfield Higher Level Skills Centre, with a combined worth of £10.75m.
It is hoped that the Masterplan will deliver over 500 new jobs from business moving in to the 0.92 hectares of development plots.
D2N2 Chair Elizabeth Fagan CBE said:
“Our investment into the construction of the Hollis Lane Link Road will be another important milestone for Chesterfield’s regeneration ambitions, bringing significant growth and investment opportunities whilst creating more homes, jobs, and learning places.
“D2N2 is pleased to support investment in our town centres to stimulate economic growth which will be central to supporting the region's recovery from the impact of Covid-19.”
