The magic number?
The number of young people going into higher education has almost reached 50%, considered a significant milestone for the previous government, albeit not for this one.
Despite a rush of people going to university straight from school, beating £9,000 tuition fee rises that have since been introduced, is this really as good news as it seems?
The amount of students going to university without any idea of what they want to study, or what sort of work they would like to get into, has risen dramatically. It boils down to a simple question; should everyone go into higher education?
A wealth of alternatives exist; but they are not yet considered to be equal paths to either education or financial success. It is time to start opening people’s minds to the best ways to progress each individual’s development, rather than blindly aiming for an arbitrary target.
