Haringey LBC cabinet members sacked following ‘persistent & personal conflicts’

The leader of Haringey Council has dismissed two of his cabinet members in a bid to “eradicate a number of persistent & personal conflicts” in the authority.

Cllr Joseph Ejiofor announced on Twitter on Wednesday that adults and health portfolio holder Cllr Peray Ahmet and cabinet member for civic services Cllr Zena Brabazon have now been removed from their posts— with the Labour leader looking to bring a “fresh outlook” to the council.

Cllr Sarah James will take up the role of delivery on adult social care, with Cllr Kaushika Amin to bring 12 years of experience to the civic services post.

In a statement on Haringey’s website, Ejiofor said: “Cabinet is committed to delivering a fairer, more equal borough, to ensuring our residents’ voices are heard and to tackling the important health issues our borough faces.

“I want to welcome Cllrs James and Amin to the Cabinet and I am confident that they will play an effective role in helping us work together to deliver positive change for our residents here in Haringey.”
