Don’t wait
The government’s confirmation of the carbon budget is vital, the CCC has stated. The committee found no evidence to support a change in the budget, or a delay in this policy target.
The overarching message is ‘the sooner the better’ – the more progress the UK makes on carbon efficiency, the more secure we can be in our energy supply, and the faster we can contribute to critical measures needed to reduce global emissions.
Uncertainty over policy in this area damages more than just our country; we must take action now.
