Join Jeremy Hunt to consider the health and economic benefits of health creation

The New NHS Alliance (NNHSA) has announced that health secretary Jeremy Hunt will be a Keynote Speaker at its 2017 Action Summit being held at the Royal College of General Practitioners on 6 December 2017.

Hunt joins 25 top-class speakers including those from the housing, local government and emergency service sectors at the event - which PSE is a media partner for.

Health Creation is the enhancement of health and wellbeing that occurs when individuals and communities achieve a sense of purpose, hope, mastery and control over their own lives and immediate environment.

It often starts when people develop meaningful and constructive relationships with each other and with service providers, and then inspire each other to make positive changes in their lives and the style of service provision.

EntitledHealth Creation: Wealth Creation – the power of people and communities’, the 2017 Summit will explore, discuss and debate how the three Cs of Health Creation – Control, Contact and Confidence – can contribute to both the health and economic wellbeing of people, communities and the society in which we live.

The Summit will challenge attendees to understand why they need to invest in Health Creation, what financial arguments there are for it and how adopting health creating practices may reduce demand on health and care services.

Commenting on the Summit, Merron Simpson, NNHSA chief executive, said: “The Health Creation movement is tackling health inequalities by increasing awareness about what creates health, and by delivering disruptive ideas that are catalysts for real change. Given the pressures our health and care services are under, the Summit will explore the economic value of tapping into the renewable energy of communities and enabling them to play their part.”

Commenting on the critical health creating role of the non-healthcare sector, she went on to say: “The New NHS Alliance brings together the full range of professionals that play roles in creating health - whether they are from nursing, public health, social care, general practice, housing, mental health, fire service. This always provides a rich, dynamic and solutions-focused learning environment for everyone and is part of what makes our Summits special”.

Chaired by Victoria Macdonald, Channels 4´s Health and Social Care correspondent, delegates will hear from those who have enabled, delivered and lived experience of Health Creation. Other top-class speakers include:

  • Duncan Selbie, Chief Executive, Public Health England
  • Superintendent Sean Russell, West Midlands Police Mental Health Lead
  • Peter Hay, Former Director of People, Birmingham Council
  • Norman McKinley, Executive Director of UK Operations, Red Cross
  • Jos De BloK, CEO Buurtzorg, Netherlands

The New NHS Alliance is a movement of people and organisations who are committed to building a sustainable, community-based health and care service through making the practice of Health Creation a core part of the UK healthcare system, alongside a stronger focus on preventing illness.

Jeremy Hunt? Seriously? That creep has done more to damage the NHS than anyone else and his aim is to privatise service delivery. Inviting him devalues your event.
