New rules to change the future of Social Value
The government has announced the introduction of new rules to change the future of social value and make the way housing developers stump up the money for infrastructure both simpler and more transparent.
These regulatory changes are designed to help achieve its ambition to deliver 300,000 extra homes per year by the mid-2020s.
The current rules – which force builders to pay for roads, schools, GP surgeries and parkland to help communities cope with influxes of extra residents – are widely seen as confusing and over-complicated, and the change in strategy will see councils handed greater freedom to deliver complex projects at pace.
This is the latest government measure to support councils, give greater confidence to communities, and help them recognise precisely what social value in the public sector can do to create prosperity.
Here at PSE, we want to shape the future of social value and enable the public sector to look past contract values to see what other values can be brought to the community. To do this, we need your help.
