County council director and CCG CEO to lead STP in joint-role
Hertfordshire and West Essex STP has announced a job-share partnership between the local county council and CCG to lead the STP.
Iain MacBeath, the director of adult social care services at Hertfordshire County Council, and the chief executive officer of East and North Hertfordshire CCG Beverley Flowers will lead the county’s sustainability and transformation partnership.
The two health and social care leaders applied jointly for the position of STP lead chief officer after the former West Essex CCG chief executive Deborah Fielding retired from the role in April.
Paul Burstow, the Hertfordshire and West Essex STP’s chair, announced the job-share in order to “navigate the next steps towards an improved, integrated health and care system for our area’s 1.5 million residents.”
Combining two days’ work a week, Flowers and MacBeath will lead the STP alongside their current posts.
The council said their immediate priorities are to deliver the STP’s integrated health and care strategy and to work with the chair and partner organisations to form an over-arching integrated care system.
Burstow said: “I’m delighted that we now have two very committed champions of integrated social care and health at the forefront of our drive to deliver high quality, effective and sustainable services.
“Iain and Beverley have more than 40 years of combined experience in their fields. They are well known for their commitment to partnership working in health and social care circles, both in our STP area and beyond.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with Beverley and Iain to make the improvements needed for a healthier future for our population, our staff and health and care services.”
MacBeath said he was “delighted” to take up the role at such a key stage in the transformation of the health and care system and that he looked forward to working with colleagues in the voluntary sector, the district and county councils and the area’s health and care providers.
Beverley Flowers commented: “Iain and I are committed to ensuring that clinical and professional expertise continues to be nurtured and supported in the Hertfordshire and West Essex STP area.
“We plan to get out and about across the patch, learning from colleagues in west Essex and Hertfordshire and championing the examples of excellent practice that exist across the whole system.”
